Ashton’s Story of Hope

Ashton’s Story of Hope

After dropping out of high school as a freshman, Ashton set out on a path he thought would bring fulfillment. Instead, he found himself on a long, hard journey in and out of jail due to drugs, facing the possibility of prison time. It was in his brokenness that he encountered God.

After Ashton was released from jail, he found himself homeless and uncertain for his future until someone invited him to visit a local church. He surrendered to Christ and was introduced to a Center of Hope partner, Adult and Teen Challenge – Azle campus. Through this year-long discipleship program, Ashton was connected to Center of Hope’s GED tutoring program.

Four years after dropping out of high school, Ashton began to visit Center of Hope twice a week to study with his tutors.  We are proud that Ashton accomplished his goal of graduating with his Certificate of High School Equivalency!

“I’m excited to look back and see what God has done. Center of Hope has been a big step for me,” said Ashton. “It’s been a blessing that God has given me an opportunity to get my GED. I found a second family at Center of Hope. Coming here was the best decision I have ever made.”

Through the partnership of Adult and Teen Challenge, Center of Hope, and the Body of Christ, Ashton has experienced transformation in his mind and spiritual growth, restoration in his family, and the faithfulness of God as he looks forward to new beginnings.

Since receiving his GED, Ashton inspires other men to pursue the tutoring offered at Center of Hope. He looks forward to a hopeful career in welding and remodeling, while also leaving his life open to the Lord’s direction. “I want to let God lead me in the way He wants me to go.”
