There’s Still Time

There’s Still Time

High school was never easy for Amy. During her sophomore year, she faced bullying on social media that led to overwhelming anxiety. As her personal struggles grew, so did her academic challenges. Before long, she was failing all of her classes and had lost the motivation to keep going to school.

While searching online for other options with her parents, they discovered Parker County Center of Hope’s GED tutoring program. Through one-on-one tutoring with Steve and Kendra, Amy found much more than the academic support she was looking for. The encouragement and patience from her tutors made her feel at ease.

Living with ADHD, Amy often felt like her thoughts were scattered, but her tutors met her where she was, allowing her to learn at her own pace in a calm and welcoming environment.

She is excited about what lies ahead. She enjoys exploring different hobbies as she considers possible career paths, including a future in the medical field. While she doesn’t have every detail figured out, she’s confident that’s okay.

Her message to other students facing similar challenges is simple but powerful: “Teens can feel a lot of pressure to figure out their whole future, but take your time. Receiving your GED is a huge accomplishment, so it’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out just yet.”

For Amy, earning her GED led her to believe in herself and to know that her past struggles don’t have to determine what comes next.

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial…” James 1:12
