All In

All In

Growing up in North Carolina, Cody experienced abuse at home and began using drugs at just 15. After his mother passed away in 2021, he moved to Texas to help his brother navigate the loss. The overwhelming grief was too much for them, and Cody and his brother fell further into addiction. A few short years later, Cody’s brother tragically died from a brain aneurysm. The grief and guilt pushed him deeper into addiction and destructive choices. Cody and his girlfriend had a young daughter together, but as his drug use continued, the relationship fell apart. Feeling hopeless and ashamed, Cody accepted homelessness as his future.

Cody had been a participant at our Springtown location since he first moved to Texas. Following the loss of his brother, he returned to Center of Hope and asked Misti, the Springtown Manager, for a bus ticket back to North Carolina. He did not have a home or support system there, so his plan was to sleep at the bus station and panhandle. Misti was quick to deny his request for a bus ticket, but she did offer another option: Hope House, a faith-based recovery home that partners with Center of Hope. After a long and emotional conversation, Cody agreed to think about it. Misti encouraged him to visit his daughter and say goodbye—not as a final farewell, but because she knew he would be a different person the next time he saw her.

On the morning that he was scheduled to go to Hope House, Misti was not certain that he would follow through. She drove to his house that morning, and found him standing at the end of his driveway with his suitcase in hand — smiling. He had waited outside for hours to make sure he didn’t miss the ride she had arranged for him.

That first week changed everything for Cody. He began to experience transformation and asked God to come into his life. Not long after, he was baptized, and his daughter was there to witness this beautiful moment of renewal.

Today, Cody has graduated from Hope House and moved into transitional housing. For someone who once felt he had never completed anything, this milestone means everything. He now encourages other men just beginning their journey. Cody’s story is no longer defined by addiction or loss but by redemption and new beginnings.

Watch Cody and Misti tell Cody’s story.
