A Christmas Full of Hope
For Iris, Christmas has looked different these last few years. Life changed dramatically when Iris and her husband began raising their 10-year-old grandson after the sudden passing of their son-in-law. Times have been tough since her husband’s long-time cabinet business closed during COVID, and his health has made things even more difficult. He struggles with pain in his back and shoulders and can no longer raise his arms as he seeks disability assistance. Despite these challenges, Iris and her husband continue to trust that God will provide, finding encouragement through the support of Center of Hope.
Last Christmas, Iris came to the Christmas of Hope event, which included a Toys for Tots distribution. Iris’s grandson experienced a bit of Christmas magic. His gifts, that were carefully picked out by Center of Hope staff, were all baseball-themed—bats, balls, and gear that made his eyes light up. “The gifts were perfect,” Iris said with a smile. “He LOVES baseball.”
For Iris, that moment meant more than just presents under the tree. It was a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, God’s love shines brightest through the kindness of others. This Christmas, she’s filled with gratitude for her grandson’s laughter, for the hope that continues to carry them forward, and for the community that makes moments like these possible.
